The Patient Journey
Standard flow. Nothing changes for the existing booking product.
Triggered by appointment type (allergy, pulmonology, pediatrics, dermatology). Not a cold upsell — clinically contextualized. Conversion is highest at the moment of diagnosis.
CIH and ACAC-certified professionals, vetted with the same rigor healthcare platforms apply to MDs. Real reviews, credential verification, insurance documentation.
The platform facilitates an async telehealth review. Doctor signs a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). Patient pays with HSA/FSA funds — saving ~30%. No other marketplace can do this.
Lab results returned to patient and referring physician. If remediation is needed, Canary refers to vetted partners (separate from the inspector — no conflict of interest).
The Flywheel
Testing is the wedge. Remediation is the business.
A $300 mold test that finds a problem leads to $3,000–8,000 in remediation. A $150 radon test leads to a $1,200 mitigation system. A $200 ergonomic assessment leads to $800–2,000 in HSA-eligible equipment (standing desk, monitor arm, chair).
Testing costs $150–800 per service. But HSA-eligible remediation is 5–20x the testing cost. Canary captures referral fees on both sides: the diagnostic booking and the remediation referral.
The patient wins (HSA-funded, clinically justified). The doctor wins (closed loop, better outcomes). Canary wins twice per patient.
The HSA Unlock
Environmental tests are expensive ($300–800) and usually cash-pay. Most patients don’t know they can use HSA/FSA funds — they just need a Letter of Medical Necessity from their doctor.
The booking platform already owns the doctor relationship. Canary automates the LMN: patient books test, the platform facilitates an async medical review, doctor signs, patient pays with pre-tax dollars. Effective 30% discount that no competitor can offer.
There is $159 billion sitting in US HSA accounts. Much of it unused. Canary creates a new, clinically justified way to spend it.
Truemed already processes Letters of Medical Necessity for mold testing, air purifiers, and dehumidifiers — a ready-made integration partner for the LMN automation workflow. The infrastructure exists. It just needs to be connected to the referral engine.
Only 7 states require mold licensing (NY, TX, FL, LA, MD, TN, DC) — 43+ states have minimal onboarding friction.
